New York’s Met Museum celebrates punk’s influence on fashion
May 7th
By Patricia Reaney NEW YORK (Reuters) – With their black leather, studded jackets, ripped jeans, bondage trousers and messages of rebellion and anarchy, punks from the 1970s probably never envisioned that a major museum would be celebrating their influence on fashion 40 years later. But the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is doing just that with a new exhibition, "Punk: Chaos to Couture," that opens on May 9 and runs through August 14. …

Feb 8th
Filed under: Aftermarket, Chicago Auto Show, Sedan, Dodge
For the fourth year in a row, Mopar is offering a limited-production car decked with a plenty of add-ons and a unique look. This year’s black-and-blue car is the Mopar ’13 Dart, which was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show with the now-signature paint scheme. Like previous Mopar models, only 500 of the ’13 Darts will be built. Past models include the Mopar ’10 Challenger, Mopar ’11 Charger and the Mopar ’12 300.
The all-black Dart gets a brightly contrasting, offset blue stripe running the full length of the car, and other styling mods like the aero-tuned body kit, gloss black grille, wheels and mirror caps. Curiously, Mopar chose to stick with the Dart’s standard headlights rather than the darker, smoked lights. The interior gets a similar black-and-blue treatment, but this unique cabin features a blue leather driver’s seat to go along with the black leather seating for the rest of the passengers.
More than just a styling package, the Mopar ’13 Dart also gets some performance and handling goodies to complement the Dart’s turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, such as upgraded brakes with slotted rotors, a lowered suspension, retuned electric power steering and a “sport-tuned” exhaust system.
Scroll down for Chrysler’s official press release.

Official: Smart readies Fortwo Cityflame special edition for Detroit
Jan 13th
There’s nothing cowardly about the yellow Smart Fortwo being introduced at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Why the bright color? Daimler says it’s in response to both trends in car colors and customer demand for more personalization on the city car’s higher-end Passion trim level. The newest Smart edition has been christened Cityflame. It features eye-popping pearlescent flame yellow side body panels and black safety panels and roof and 15-inch black alloy wheels.
The interior repeats the yellow and black color scheme. There’s yellow imitation leather inserts and stitching on black leather seats and yellow stitching on the black three-spoke faux leather steering wheel with paddle shifters. There also are special edition black and yellow floor mats embroidered with the word Cityflame.
Daimler is producing just 2,400 Smart Fortwo Cityflame vehicles, available in either coupe or cabrio. All have a five-speed automated manual transmission with a 70-horsepower, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder in-line turbo gas engine which produces 68 lb-ft of torque. Starting price is 14,490 euros ($19,300 US at today’s exchange rates) for the coupe and 17,580 ($23,500) euros for the cabrio. Daimler has not announced whether the Smart Fortwo edition cityflame will be imported to North America, but we may learn when the big show starts tomorrow.

Tags: bright color, detroit auto show, Special Edition, smart fortwoOfficial: Audi shows off R8 China Edition
Dec 9th
Filed under: Coupe, Performance, China, Audi, Specialty, Luxury
An Audi R8 V10 provides the latest canvas for a China-specific special edition, and to make it easier to remember, it is called the Audi R8 China Edition. There will be only eight of them, and they’ll be known by their colors: either two Malibu blue with Suzuka grey sideblades, or the inverse. The 19-inch, high-gloss black wheels with five twin spokes in a “Y” motif will also be a giveaway.
This is a color-and-ornament job, no tuning tweaks here. If you do get a chance to get inside, however, instead of black leather you’ll find black shark skin with contrasting stitching, along with Alcantara, plenty of carbon fiber trim and Chinese characters on the shift knob identifying the production number. This is the first time an Audi production car has been embellished with the native language, and mindful of native manners, any number that includes “4″ has been removed from the serial list.
We’re fans of any R8, but our favorite thing about this one might be this line in the press release from Audi China: “It’s not important if it’s rare, the important thing is that… you own it.” You’ll find that line and more just below.

Los Angeles: Mitsubishi celebrates 30th anniversary in US with Outlander Sport Limited Edition
Nov 30th
Filed under: LA Auto Show, SUV, Crossover, Mitsubishi
The hurrah of the last kind for the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is this Limited Edition that celebrates 30 years of Mitsubishi Motors in North America. Built in North America as well, the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition gets numerous black trim pieces outside, such as the center bumper, side mirror housings, wheel arch trim and skirting and roof rails. It sits on special Argent wheels.
Open the doors and the darkness continues with available Dove Grey and Black leather seating, and black leather parking brake sleeve, all accented by aluminum brake and accelerator pedals. On this model the six-way power driver’s seat is standard. The sole performance mod is a new balancer shaft that makes for quicker acceleration without any penalty in the mileage rating.

SEMA: Chevy cooks up custom Camaro, Corvette for "Smoke," Fieri
Nov 1st
Filed under: SEMA Show, Performance, Chevrolet, Celebrities, Design/Style
NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is known as “Smoke” to many, and the custom Camaro ZL1 he helped create for SEMA reflects his sometimes mysterious personality. Chevy design manager Dave Ross worked with Stewart to come up with not only the flat red and silver tribal theme, but the custom gray-metallic paint and the red-haloed headlights, as well.
The interior gets seats embroidered with Tony Stewart signatures, suede door panels, French-stitched black leather armrests and piano black trim plates and gauge bezel. The large wheels are custom-designed with a piano black finish and just a touch of red on the spokes.
Underhood lies the 6.2L supercharged LSA engine with enough power to turn the rear tires to billowing clouds of small rubber particles. The engine is factory fresh but handily uses its 580 horses to make a 0-60 run in four seconds with a top-out speed of 184 miles per hour.
For the host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Chevy cooked up a delectable Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition. An avid Camaro fan, spiky-haired Guy Fieri already owns 1968 and 2011 Camaro SS convertibles in matching yellow and black. His new Corvette, however, twists that color scheme for a black with yellow stripes getup accented by the blacked-out 19-inch wheels in front and 20s in back with matching yellow calipers. Stunning would be the correct adjective, and GM should definitely put the package on its menu.

Jessica Alba in Yellow Plaid: Love it or Leave it? (POLL & PHOTOS)
Sep 16th
When you see plaid, do you think grunge or chic?
Celebuzz can’t tell if Jessica Alba‘s yellow plaid ensemble is supposed to be preppy or edgy.
On Thursday, the Fantastic Four star, 31, put a new spin on plaid, sporting a conservative A-line skirt with a short leather jacket and black T-strap heels at the Ralph Lauren Spring 2013 fashion show.
Alba looked stunning, but did her outfit make sense?
With her hair sleeked back and her waist cinched by a black leather belt, Alba appeared sophisticated in a ’50s sort of way. Yet, the biker jacket gave the outfit a laid-back feel.
Do you think Alba totally pulled off the yellow plaid skirt or you think she should have ditched it?
Click through our gallery to see more images and take the poll to cast your vote.
